Hello I am new to the forums. I wasn't sure whether to post this in the SPOILER forum or not. I just got a copy of the Thousandfold Thought in at a Barnes & Noble in NYC, and the map of the Western Three Seas, the route of the Holy War, is ridiculously pixellated. The names of cities are obscured and ureadable because of this. But the inset label, saying "The Western Three Seas 4109 Year-of-the-Tusk" is full normal resolution, if u look at it carefully. The complete Earwa map and the Shimeh map are fine. Does anyone else have this problem? I don't have access to a scanner at the moment but I will in a few days, and post a scan of it so u can see exactly what I mean. How did this happen? Should I complain to Overlook? view post
That's not right... my copy is fine. view post
Mine is the same as King's. It is very hard to see. view post
Sounds like mis-printed runs guys, I'd personally take it back and see about getting it replaced with another copy. My maps look fine. view post
OK here are the scans so you can see for yourself. Bad map from The Thousandfold Thought: [url:3aaxmmef]http://static.flickr.com/37/98378633_ad5e03afc3_b.jpg[/url:3aaxmmef] Good map from The Warrior Prince, for comparison.: [url:3aaxmmef]http://static.flickr.com/40/98380936_1ba29392d6_b.jpg[/url:3aaxmmef] view post
Yeah, mine is messed up also. view post
Yea, like I said it looks like a book from a bad printing run. view post
mine is all jacked up too. There are a few oddities in the print throughout the book as well. Its not like i blame Scott..i just wish that the literary establishment would accord PoN the same quality printing as GRRM got for AFFC for example. view post
I also have the pixellated map, purchased from Amazon. Hey, maybe they'll be collector's items someday.

Yeah, I've got it too. Probably won't return it, as I think I have the same map in his other 2 books. view post
Yes as I was reading I noticed a lot of weird printing errors here and there. Its like the typeface blocks of an old style printing press were off a bit. But everything is computerized now so I dont understand how that could be. And the map looks like it was messed up on the computer, not on the printer end of things. view post
Think about how many books are run off, it isn't unusual to get errors in mass producing anything, and trust me I bet there are tons of copies of Martin's books floating around with typographical errors in them.

YOu know, some time around page 275, the typesetting goes to hell, as does the copy editing, on the copy of TTT I borrowed from my library. I was able to download the map from Scott's website, and I tucked the copy into the library copy with a note to keep it there for future readers. I agree with RiderOnTheStorm; I wish some proper respect was paid to these works. view post
