AM I ALONE? posted 15 Mar 2006, 17:03 by Edge of Certainty, Subdidact

I must know, am I the only goddamn person in the whole of Arkansas that has read these books? Some one say it aint so! I don't suppose Scott's gunna make any appearances here or anywhere near here (for sound reasons), tho I've thought of trying to get him to with the compelling argument that Arkansas has the best....hotdogs? I would say beer, but I'd be lying through my teeth....Is there anyone out there that lives anywhere [i:gt3usxzb]remotely[/i:gt3usxzb] near Arkansas? Somewhere in the southland? I hope revealing I live in the south doesn't give the impression that I'm a hick (no offence hicks)... view post

Oh dear, a PoN fan in the South. I hope you do find someone, it would be a great encouragement to those of us in the Northern USA. While I'm on this rather unkind topic of criticizing the South, I also hope the Anti-Potterists and other stereotypical religious fanatics don't catch on to the PoN. There would be so much more "blasphemy" (translation: darn good reading material) for them to go into moral panic over. view post

 thanks, I Know what ya mean... but I keep trying to hoarde the books to myself, afraid that they might burn me if they catch me reading them  The funny thing is, I'm a Christian, and I love Harry Potter and the PoN books. I'll even go as far to say that the Da Vinci Code is a good read.....I guess another ground where I stand a minority. view post

You're not alone in one aspect. I'm a christian too! Who also doesn't have any problems with the series... or Harry Potter for that matter... although the books don't appeal to me on a literary level. And yes, The Da Vinci Code was a good book. The only annoying thing is all those people who freak out about what it implies... How many times does the author have to say "This is just a book!" "I made most of this up!"? view post

Yeah, no joke...you know the people here call themselves slow goin, take it easy kinda people, but if they think you're threatening thier faith, they're very quick to judge you...It's good to see people who believe in what they do, but sometimes it get's to be alittle much. Have you heard tho, the author of the DA Vinci code being tried in london for plagiarism... view post
