Where in the world is R. Scott Bakker? posted 09 May 2006, 20:05 by Tol h'Eddes, Auditor

Is it me or has it been a while since we last heard of Scott? Anyone else wondering if Scott has deserted us? *snif* view post

I met him at Ad Astra April 1 last month. In speaking with him I know he is busy fine-tuning and shopping around Neuromancer and he is also busy with Aspect-Emperor. view post

There is an idea of a Scott Bakker, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real him, only an entity. Something illusory. And though he can hide his cold gaze, and you can shake his hand and feel flesh gripping yours, and maybe you can even sense your lifestyles are probably comparable, he is simply not there. view post

Lol. I wonder how much a book written and signed by an illusory abstraction would fetch on E-bay. view post

Yea from when I met him back in March I was under the impression he would be quite busy for awhile with Neuromancer's fine tuning and potential movie potential plus AE view post

I was wonderin about the mention Neuromancer especially when Entropic mentioned it. view post

Oops, my bad lol. I meant Neuropath but said Neuromancer. I wonder if they will ever get mixed up in the future. view post

Yea I meant Neuropath as well but for some reason since I saw Neuromancer right above my post that is what came out. I know when Iw as talking to Scott in March his agent was thinking about shopping it around as a film script first as opposed to a novel. Scott was pretty excited about it :) view post

They would make a film with Neuropath? Be it a book or a movie, I'm sure it will be great ! view post

Yea, I had the distinct pleasure of hearing a little reading from it when he was in Toronto doing a reading at U of T, it sounded really good. So very different from PoN. view post

*whistles innocently* Yeah, NP is quite a bit different from PoN in style, flow, setting, etc. But it is even more difficult to read without reacting to it. Sorry, that's all I can say about it. I probably shouldn't even say that I've seen a draft of it, but I know I'm not to reveal anything about the plot. I do hope it's published as a novel and optioned at least as a film. It certainly would make for a lot of talk. view post

Was interesting hearing the f-bomb dropped that many times during a reading :) view post
