I am reading the Iliad for seminar at school, and found it interesting to see Homer using this phrase frequently to describe the Trojans, I believe. I was wondering if this had anything to do with Scott's use of the phrase. I have always liked it, and interestingly it is used similarly both by Scott and Homer, the difference in Homer using it more narratively and Scott through dialogue, coupled with men. view post
