Again, two questions here. Which character do you dislike reading about? And, Which character do you dislike as a 'person'? Anyway, the answer to both these questions is the same for me in this case. The old queen-mother. Or should that be empress-mother? She's utterly vile and disgusting, albeit in a more human way than the Consult. Which only serves to make her even more disturbing. And she's one of the few characters in literature who disgust me to the point of not wanting to read about them either. At least she's a radical reversal of the mother-figure stereotype. view post

Istriya is a bish. I also dislike Esmi for being such a damn whore. But they're both great chars. I love the emperor; take him off the list! 
I've always prefered large casts of twisted characters, which is exactly one of the reasons I like Bakker so much, so I don't really [i:24nbai4c]dislike[/i:24nbai4c] reading about these people. I'm quite evil myself. That said, I suppose I do dislike reading about the more religiously pious/zealous characters - but only a little less. I still find religion freaks amusing.

I have to say that I for one hate Ikurei Conphas. I hate reading about him, I hate the idea of him. He's like some smart, cynical guys who thought they walked on water that I went to college with. Yick. view post

Conphas and Xerius top my list. Proyas leaves me cold. Haven't seen enough of Maithanet or Mallahet to judge them as characters, tehya re certainly intriguing. view post

I dislike Xerius the most for being such a complete fool. Istriya is a bitch, but at least she's good at being a bitch. I can't say I like Esmi either. In fact there really is not one single female character that I actually like in the series, although to be fair as far as I can remember there is only like 3 of them. Conphas was actually a lot of fun to read I thought, and Proyas seem like a genuinely nice guy. Personally though I am most interested in reading about Maithanet. view post

I have to say i like all the characters listed on that poll. The only people i finding myself hating in the book are the Mandate schoolmen, besides Akka of course, and Sarcellus. It really upset me how he died and then came back dammmn i that guy. But really i hate the madate schoolmen the most. maybe because they have so much power and we really dont get to see any of it. and because they live on gossip and never make any moves, view post
